Boca Raton, Florida– The Republican Governor’s Association (RGA) is holding it’s annual meeting in Florida, and on first day of the two day event, MSNBC’s Chuck Todd moderated a panel discussion between five Republican governors who many believe have presidential aspirations-Gov. Jon Kasich (OH), Gov. Rick Perry (TX), Gov. Scott Walker (WI), Gov. Bobby Jindal (LA), and Gov. Mike Pence (IN).
The hour-long discussion was supposed to be about a slew of issues, but Todd focused on immigration reform.Jindal and Walker both called Todd out for wanting to talk about an issue that Obama has been pushing, simply because the President, as well as other Democrats, do not want to talk about the issues Republicans won on earlier this month.
Texas Governor Rick Perry, considered to be the strongest of the potential presidential candidates on the panel, said that he believes that Texas will file a lawsuit against President Obama, if he signs a executive amnesty order.
Do you think the 2nd Amendment will be destroyed by the Biden Administration?(2)
Perry implied that Obama would be sued when he quoted Texas Governor-elect Greg Abbott of saying, “I got to the office, I sue Obama, and I go home.”
Perry also mentioned an encounter he once had with President Obama and his advisor Valerie Jarrett during a presidential visit to Dallas, saying that “Obama did not know that his Border Patrol agents were 45-50 miles from border in an apprehension position, rather than being on the border in a defensive position.”
Perry added that when he told the President Obama where the Border Patrol agents were stationed, Obama looked at Valerie Jarrett said, “is that right Valerie?”So how does Perry really feel about a pathway to citizenship for millions of illegal immigrants?
There already is a path to citizenship in this country, and I would suggest to you that it doesn’t have to be changed. So, if you want to be a citizen, go get in the line, pay the dues, pay the time, just like everyone else has done who came before you.- Gov. Rick Perry
