During a panel discussion, former health-care consultant to the Obama administration, Jonathan Gruber, had the following to say about Obamacare:
This bill was written in a tortured way to make sure CBO did not score the mandate as taxes. Lack of transparency is a huge political advantage. And basically, call it the ‘stupidity of the American voter’ or whatever, but basically that was really, really critical to getting the thing to pass.
That comment was the center of the debate between our editor and chief, Javier Manjarres, and the host of the Good Fight, Ben Wikler, on NewsMax TV’s, America’s Forum. Wikler argued it was a gasp and it should not have been said. He also raved about Obamacare and said it helped him out because he was paying more money with a COBRA (It’s a COBRA.. that is not an accurate comparison). Whereas Manjarres said it was not a gasp at all and he had the following to say about Obamacare:
People who have signed up for the Affordable Care Act and have health insurance cannot afford it. Ask those people if they can afford the premiums.
