Kentucky Senator Rand Paul (R) continues to push towards a possible 2016 presidential bid, as he unleashed a not-so-subtle jab at another possible 2016 Republican presidential hopeful, former Florida Governor Jeb Bush.
As most conservative know, Jeb Bush is the ‘Godfather’ of Common Core education standards.
During a speech he have in Greenville, North Carolina, Paul said that a 2016 Republican presidential candidate supporting Common Core would lose.
“I don’t see Common Core being—if you’re for Common Core and you’re for a national curriculum, I don’t see it being a winning message in a Republican primary… If there’s a Republican candidate out there—let’s just say there’s a hypothetical one that’s for Common Core. I’m saying that that hypothetical candidate that’s for Common Core probably doesn’t have much chance of winning in a Republican primary.”
While he didn’t name Jeb Bush by name, it is clear that the message was directed to the him.-Breitbart
Another potential 2016 Republican presidential candidate, Florida Senator Marco Rubio, is has also denounced Common Core, saying that he was “very concerned” and “opposed” to the creation of a national education curriculum.
And I am very concerned, and quite frankly opposed to any effort to try to create some sort of national curriculum standard and then try to leverage the power of the federal government’s funding to force states to adopt a certain curriculum standard. State and local levels are the best places to come up with curriculum reform, and its something the federal government shouldn’t be deeply involved in.-Senator Marco Rubio (SHARK TANK)
