Another asinine and irresponsible statement has come out of the Obama administration, this time its from the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Martin Dempsey.
Dempsey has said that he cannot authorize or recommend any airstrikes against the Islamic State terrorists, who just beheaded U.S. journalist James Foley, because he has not been able to determine if the group is a direct threat to the U.S. or its interests abroad.Dempsey said that so far, there is no sign that the Islamic State militants are engaged in “active plotting against the homeland, so it’s different than that which we see in Yemen.”
“I can tell you with great clarity and certainty that if that threat existed inside of Syria that it would certainly be my strong recommendation that we would deal with it,” said Dempsey. “I have every confidence that the president of the United States would deal with it.”-FOX

It is clear that the irresponsible and reckless pre-911 mentality of ‘sitting on our hands and waiting to be attacked’ has permeated throughout the Obama administration, including the U.S. military.
To say that the terror group ISIS, who continues to threaten other Americans and assets, will not be dealt with inside of Syria because it is not a “direct” threat to the U.S., is again, irresponsible and very Clinton-like.
Dempsey’s statement not to attack ISIS is in itself a direct threat to the U.S.Earlier this week, State Department spokeswoman Maria Haif said that James Foley’s beheading was “about the United States and what we do,” even as ISIS itself had called out Obama’s actions as being the cause of Foley’s execution.
