President Barack Obama took to the cable TV airwaves Monday afternoon to grandstand on the issue of illegal immigration. He complained that the “Tea Party” was preventing comprehensive immigration reform from passing the House of Representatives.
Obama said, he was going alone and taking action.President Obama angrily conceded Monday that Congress would not overhaul immigration laws this year and announced that he will redirect immigration enforcement to the border.
The action, which will beef up efforts to stem illegal immigration across the border but likely will slow efforts to deport longtime undocumented immigrants already in the country, is one of a series of executive actions Obama pledged to take after House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) told him last week that he would not allow an immigration vote this year.

Speaker Boehner wasn’t impressed.
Even before Monday’s announcement, Boehner and his colleagues alleged that the president has gone too far in making changes without Congress to immigration policy, the Affordable Care Act, environmental regulations and other issues.
This new push would go further still. In a written statement, Boehner called Obama’s announcement “sad and disappointing,” and said executive orders “can’t and won’t fix these problems.”
