While some may call it a bit premature, others will call it a bold decisive statement that will galvanize scores of Islamists around the world to support their cause.
The Syrian-based terror group ISIS, which has been claiming big swaths of Iraq, has announced that its leader, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi is the “caliph” of their so-called “caliphate” or Islamic state. The groups spokesman said that al-Baghdadi is “the imam and khalifah (caliph) for the Muslims everywhere,” and must be obeyed,
“The legality of all emirates, groups, states and organizations becomes null by the expansion of the caliph’s authority and the arrival of its troops to their areas,” al-Adnani continued. “Listen to your caliph and obey him. Support your state, which grows every day.”-Fox
Remember, ISIS is a splinter group of Al Qaeda, and the Al-Baghdadi does not get along with Al Qaeda’s Ayman al-Zawahiri, as al-Zawahiri has publicly “disavowed” Al-Baghdadi’s creation of an Islamic State earlier this year.
Do you think the 2nd Amendment will be destroyed by the Biden Administration?(2)
An Islamic state threatens Al Qaeda’s existence, so Al Qaeda is not to happy with what is going on in Iraq.
There are two things that could happen here.
First, Al Qaeda and ISIS fighters entangle themselves in a Jihadi civil war, and second, ISIS’ aggression emboldens the surrounding Arab nations to join Iraq and the U.S. to neutralize them.
The U.S. needs to do what President Obama has failed to do thus far, drone the heck out of ISIS’ military positions.
