Members of the U.S. Congress are finally putting the screws to the inept bureaucracy atop of the Veteran’s Affairs administration (VA), over years of healthcare abuse and inaction that has lead to the deaths of numerous veterans.
Florida Congressman Ron DeSantis (R), a U.S. Navy Reservist, is the latest member of Congress, who is calling for heads to roll over at the VA.During a recent meeting with a group of concerned citizens and representatives from several Florida veterans groups at a VFW Post in St.Augustine, Florida, DeSantis railed against “shoddy service” and “lack of accountability” over at the VA.
DeSantis has signed onto the House VA Accountability Act sponsored by one his colleagues in the House, Congressman Jeff Miller (R). U.S. Senator Marco Rubio has also sponsored a Senate version of Miller’s bill.
“I think we’re going to get a vote this month and it’ll pass once it’s on the [House] floor, because what’s your justification for voting ‘no’ on it?” he said. “I think this issue, because it’s dealing with veterans, I think there’s more of an incentive for [the Senate] to take it up.”(Source)
Do you think the 2nd Amendment will be destroyed by the Biden Administration?(2)
But Republicans in the Senate are not as optimistic as DeSantis on whether the Senate would support Rubio’s bill. Remember, the VA is government run and has to address those unionized government employees Democrats rely on for votes.
To this day, only one Democrat Senator has agreed to support Rubio’s VA reform bill in the Senate. The sole Senator is Bill Nelson, who seems to have only agreed to support the bill after being confronted about it last month in Miami, Florida
