The rival Palestinian political factions, Fatah and Hamas, have announced that they are joining forces to create a unified Palestinian government.
As expected, the Israeli government has quickly shut down ongoing Palestinian Authority-brokered talks between them and the Fatah faction.“This evening, as peace talks were about to take place, Abbas chose Hamas and not peace,” read a statement released by Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s office. “Whoever chooses Hamas does not want peace.”
The statement called Hamas “a murderous terror organization that calls for the destruction of Israel.”-WaPo

Now U.S. Congressman Ron DeSantis (R-FL) has come out and forcefully denounced the “alliance” between the Hamas terror group and the Palestinian Authority.
But unlike President Obama, who is the first to press Israel to roll-over and compromise it’s principles and national security (Obama asked Israel to go back to 1967 borders), DeSantis calls on the Obama administration to mind its own business, and make it known to the Palestinian Authority that “future support” or aide, will be withheld.
“The alliance between the Palestinian Authority and the terrorist group Hamas is unacceptable,” DeSantis said. “President Mahmoud Abbas has consistently and steadfastly refused to recognize Israel’s right to exist as a Jewish state and Hamas openly seeks Israel’s destruction. The United States should not be pressuring the Israeli government into making concessions to the Palestinian Authority and Hamas. Rather than reward bad behavior with millions in foreign aid, Congress should send a clear message to the Palestinian Authority that the American people will withhold future support if they continue down this provocative path.”-Rep. Ron DeSantis
DeSantis recently introduced his Palestinian Accountability Act, which if signed into law, would withhold foreign aid from the Palestinian Authority until it met the following points:
- That the Palestinian Authority recognize Israel’s right to exist as a Jewish state.
- Strongly and regularly condemns terrorism, while bringing terrorists to justice.
- The Palestinian Authority excludes Hamas from government unless Hamas is publically held to the requirements of this bill.
