Charlie Crist Republican Richard DeNapoli, who is running for the state Legislature in Sarasota, Florida, continues to struggle with his district-wide fundraising.
Because he hasn’t been able to raise money in Sarasota County, the former Broward County GOP boss, who was forced not to run for re-election in 2012, has been making numerous trips to Southeast Florida, hoping to cash in on the few contacts and friendships he still has in the area.According to DeNapoli’s finance reports, Broward County has been good to him, as he has been able to raise roughly $27,781.43 within his old stomping ground.
But DeNapoli’s Republican opponent, Orthopedic Surgeon Julio Gonzalez and friend to Senator Marco Rubio, who has just pass the Florida Bar exam, raised $10,500 at a single event in Fort Lauderdale. Florida.
Do you think the 2nd Amendment will be destroyed by the Biden Administration?(2)
Gonzalez’s haul is more than one-third of what DeNapoli has been able to raise in his home county, since launching his campaign 7 months. Ouch!
DeNapoli has been able to raise a total of $231,647.33 for his state House campaign, but of that total, DeNapoli has loaned himself and in-kind donated $159,227.40 of it.
In addition, DeNapoli has donated $1500 through three of his companies, and received another $3000 from his stay-at-home wife, as well as receiving donations from his mother and sister. If you add all these numbers up, and then subtract them from the total raised, DeNapoli has been only able to raise about $40,000 (mostly from Palm Beach) outside of himself and Broward County.
On interesting donation to point out is that of liberal Daily Kos blogger Peter Schorsch, who has recently donated a whopping $100 to DeNapoli.
Not sure what to make of that donation, considering that DeNapoli has been advertising on Schorsch’s site.
Did Schorsch give DeNapoli a refund?
