After numerous calls for her resignation by both Republicans and Democrats, HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius is finally leaving her post.
But Sebelius is not leaving because people have called on her to do so, Sebelius is stepping down on her own terms.Sebelius supposedly told President Obama, who is “deeply grateful for her service,” that she would be stepping down after the enrollment period concluded.
After the Obamacare roll out imploded, the calls for resignation reached a fever pitch. During one of her many healthcare law promotion visits to Florida, I asked Sebelius if she would consider resigning after both Republicans and Democrats were asking her to.
Do you think the 2nd Amendment will be destroyed by the Biden Administration?(2)
Sebelius responded that she believed the most “important thing is to finish the job that we started, and as far as the President is concerned, getting the website fixed in place…”
She completely dodged the question, but that was what she did whenever confronted with that particular question.
Sylva Mathews Burwell, current director of the Office of Management and Budget, is said to be President Obama’s pick to replace Sebelius. For the few who hoped and believed that President Obama would pick someone more “conservative,” or at the very least moderate to the post, think again.
Burwell worked for the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and for President Bill Clinton “under then-Treasury Secretary Robert Rubin.
