Florida Governor Rick Scott was the keynote speaker at the 2013 Hendry County Lincoln-Reagan Day dinner in LaBelle, Florida, where 100+ GOP faithful gathered to hear the governor’s remarks about the state of Florida’s economy, as well hear him give his take on the “bad” Obamacare law that is currently leaving Floridians, as well as the rest of America without healthcare coverage.During his address, Scott rehashed some of the points he made during a Q&A session with reporters moments before taking the stage.
Scott was asked what his thoughts were about former Republican-turned-Independent-turned-Democrat Charlie Crist challenging him in next years gubernatorial race.
Do you think the 2nd Amendment will be destroyed by the Biden Administration?(2)
In response to the question, and without mentioning Crist my name, Scott simply stated the facts that, during Crist’s tenure as governor, 832K jobs were lost, and that Florida’s unemployment rate jumped from 3.5% to 11.1%.
While saying that his focus as governor remains jobs-creation and education, Scott said that Florida’s 4th-graders have been ranked #2 in reading worldwide, and that Hispanic students in the state have the highest graduation rate in the country.
We tried to get a response from him about Crist’s likening him to Al Capone, but the governor stuck to his talking points and dodged the question.
Obamacare
Scott said that the Affordable Care Act, aka Obamacare, “doesn’t work,” and feels the same way many Americans do, that the President’s law was a “bad” one.
The best way to get health insurance is either get it through you employment, or have a job where you can afford your own insurance, or afford healthcare, if you don’t want to buy insurance…-Gov. Rick Scott
Scott’s believes that Obamacare should have been about giving Americans a tax break, rewarding people for eating right, exercising, as well as not smoking.
