Florida Governor Rick Scott appeared on Fox News to discuss the pending sequester cuts that will affect Florida’s National Guard troops. The scheduled 20% pay cuts will take place just as experts predict an overly active hurricane season.
These are individuals that have gone over and defended our freedom Afghanistan and Iraq -put their lives at risk. Now we are going to cut their pay 20% . That’s not right. –Gov. Rick Scott

Scott said that he gave the Department of Defense (DoD) “other ideas” of saving money, so that “they never had to furlough any of our troops.” Obama’s DoD responded “no.” Scott added that his administration “gave them ideas about how to do this out side of hurricane season, and they said no.
Scott is scheduled to meet with DOD on Tuesday in hopes that they will admit to making a mistake
If we have a hurricane, they are going to be responsible for making sure that our national guard was not prepared for that hurricane. Would you want to do that? Even if you wanted to do that, you wouldn’t do that.”-Gov. Rick Scott
