Florida Congressman Tom Rooney (R-FL) has called for the elimination of the Internal Revenue Service, as a direct result of the scandal that the IRS has targeted ‘Tea Party’ related non-profit organizations.
The IRS has admitted wrongdoing, but now are trying to sweep this scandal under the rug by saying that it was an isolated incident that occured in the Cincinnati, Ohio office of the agency.
“The revelations of the last week have confirmed that it’s time to reduce or completely eliminate the IRS, and build a new tax system that treats American taxpayers with the fairness, honesty and integrity they deserve.”-Rep. Tom Rooney

Rooney is offering three cosponsored bills that “will significantly reduce or eliminate this sinister, out-of-control agency.”
Here is Rooney’s statement-
“With the power to tax comes the power to destroy, and when the agency with that power becomes corrupt, we have a responsibility to tear it down and start over,” Rooney said. “The IRS has proved that it is both biased and corrupt, and I have completely lost faith in its ability to enforce the tax code honestly, fairly and effectively, and so have my constituents.“Tax reform is no longer just about fixing a tax code that has grown so large, complex and unwieldy that it creates impossible burdens for American families and small businesses, and seriously hampers our economy and job growth. We now know that we need tax reform to protect Americans from an IRS that he has become too large, powerful, and intrusive, and relies on a system of fear and intimidation of law-abiding citizens.
“The revelations of the last week have confirmed that it’s time to reduce or completely eliminate the IRS, and build a new tax system that treats American taxpayers with the fairness, honesty and integrity they deserve. That is why today I have cosponsored three bills that will significantly reduce or eliminate this sinister, out-of-control agency, and I hope the House and Senate will consider them promptly.
