Honduras– A recent report by the Central American country’s non-governmental organizations states that between the years of 2005 and 2012, 2,851 women between the ages of 16 and 30 were murdered. In addition, there report states that 1,118 of Honduras’ 2,851 murders took place between the years of 2011 and 2012,.

One of these organizations, UN Women in Tegucigalpa has said that the Honduran government of President Porfirio Lobo does not apply to justice those responsible for these crimes.”
According to the U.S. State Department, of the 1 million Hondurans residing in the United States, 600,000 are illegal immigrants. The State Department’s website expresses that the U.S. Honduran governments are working together to “protect human rights, and promote the rule of law.“It hurts to see the levels of impunity in the country, but the worst is that the Honduran authorities do nothing to investigate, prosecute and punish those responsible for these deaths”
Violence in Honduras leaves a daily average of 19 people killed, making it appear to the Central American country among the most violent in the world, with 92 homicides per 100,000 inhabitants in 2011, according to a United Nations study.-Univision
