During an interview with MSNBC’s Chuck Todd regarding his newly released “Immigration Wars” book, former Florida Governor Jeb Bush was asked if he would have accepted the Obamacare Medicaid expansion measure that Florida Governor Rick Scott recently accepted.Bush said that he was “surprised” that Scott changed his position of accepting the Medicaid expansion money but answered “I don’t know” when Todd asked him if he would have “made that call” to accept federal dollars. Conservatives across the state of Florida have pushed back against the Governor’s change of mind on Obamacare, forcing the governor to explain his actions. Anytime you have the chance to advocate for reform, you should. Medicaid needs to be reformed. If you are going to expand it by 50%, it sure as heck better be a dramatically different system.

Bush adds, So if the focus is have Medicaid work for people, and that it won’t create these out-year costs that people anticipate, somehow the result will yield a better result, ok then give him credit.
If that’s the case, well kudos to the governor, if it isn’t, then he’s put the state in a precarious position 3 or 4 years out. – Jeb Bush
