Even as investigators were still sorting out the grizzly crime scene in Newtown CT which took the lives of 20 schoolchildren and at least seven other adults, Democrats and their supporters in the anti-gun lobby were quick to politicize the tragedy and seizing the opportunity to assert a new for additional new gun control regulations.  Senator Dianne Feinstein (D) will likely be spearheading a new effort in 2013  that will open up a “thoughtful debate about America’s gun culture.”

Recent government studies have shown that these types of mass shooting are in decline, in part because of stepped up law enforcement efforts to curtail these types of shootings. Throughout Obama’s presidency, gun and ammunition sales have hit record levels as many Americans believe their second amendment rights are in jeopardy-

“I hope and trust that in the next session of Congress there will be sustained and thoughtful debate about America’s gun culture and our responsibility to prevent more loss of life” –Senator Dianne Feinstein (Fox News)

Could President Obama sidestep any congressional roadblocks and implement his own executive orders that effectively set policy and satisfy his anti-gun lobby?

As President Obama used his weekly Saturday address to repeat his impassioned but vague call to take “meaningful action to prevent more tragedies like this,” some gun-control advocates said they hoped that the shooting would be a catalyst for change. – NY Times

The same Times report lists other prominent Democrats who are demanding stiffer gun control measures, but much to their dismay, the Second Amendment is not solely supported by Republicans, but also by both Independents and Democrat voters.

HBO bigmouth Bill Maher also offered his two pesos on the tragedy via Twitter-

Sorry but prayers and giving your kids hugs fix nothing; only having the balls to stand up to our insane selfish gun culture will. – Bill Maher

Inane remarks about “prayers” and “giving your kids hugs fixing nothing” aside, Maher once again proves that he is invincibly ignorant and has no meaningful insight to offer anyone.  The more we learn about the circumstances surrounding this tragic and horrific episode, the more it is apparent that this incident is no more a part of this country’s “gun culture” than vehicular homicides caused by drunk driving are part of our “automobile culture.”
