Gov. Rick Scott canceled the remainder of his afternoon schedule today and announced that he will be traveling to Kansas City where his mother Esther Scott is hospitalized and in intensive care. (Miami Herald)
During Florida’s 2010 Gubernatorial race, I was fortunate to spend quite a bit of time with Governor Scott’s mother, Esther and the rest of the Scott family. Knowing Esther as I do as quite the ‘pistol’ in the family, let’s hope that she makes a quick and full recovery and is able to get back out there on the stump for her son’s 2014 gubernatorial re-election campaign, and all the best to the entire Scott family.
The governor issued a Tweet saying that she is battling an infection and posted this note on his Facebook page- “Please pray for my mother, Esther. She is in the ICU fighting an infection. This has been a tough year for our family. Ann lost her father in January and her mother in September.”

The governor was in Fort Myers earlier today to announce his new “Colleges and Careers” agenda, but he cancelled plans for an afternoon press conference at the Tampa WorkForce Tampa Center and a phone call with Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner.
