The recent elections in war-torn Egypt, that ushered the Muslim Brotherhood into power, have added to the unease in the Middle East, and have struck the ire of many prominent U.S. Members of Congress. The Obama administration immediately came out in support of the newly elected Egyptian President, Mohammed Morsi, stating that it is looking forward to working with all political factions in Egypt.“We look forward to working together with President-elect Morsi and the government he forms to advance the many shared interests between Egypt and the United States,” White House press secretary Jay Carney said Monday-(Source-Aiken)
Congressman Allen West’s recent screed against the President Obama, demanding him to end American foreign aid to Egypt, has sent a shockwave throughout the political world, as it reiterated the long standing fear that Islamic Fundamentalism would continue to threaten peace in the Middle East.
Do you think the 2nd Amendment will be destroyed by the Biden Administration?(2)
Here is West’s statement on the results of the Egyptian elections-
Now the Chairwoman of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, Congresswoman Ileana Ros- Lehtinen is siding with Congressman West, and has come out swinging on against the Obama administration.A year ago there were those of us who warned the Obama Administration of a Muslim Brotherhood takeover in Egypt. We were castigated as alarmists and loose cannons. Today our predictions have come to reality and the ominous specter reminding us of the Iranian revolution is evident. The Muslim Brotherhood claimed they would not run a presidential candidate. Clearly the Arab Spring is nothing more than a radical Islamic nightmare. Now we need to unequivocally reiterate our support to the Coptic Christians and Israel. What an incredible foreign policy faux pas by the second coming of President Jimmy Carter, the Obama Administration. I call upon President Barack Obama to cut off American foreign aid to Egypt, denounce the results of this election, repudiate the Muslim Brotherhood, and all radical Islamist political entities-Rep. Allen West
I think that it matters what that government is all about, are they going to support the peace agreement with Israel, will they put an end to violence against Christians and human rights activists?-Rep. Ros-Lehtinen
Ros-Lehtinen went on to describe the very troubling ongoing situation with Egypt, that involves U.S. citizens and possible imprisonment.
We had to pay Egypt the United States Government, you the taxpayers $5 million for bail so that U.S citizens could leave Egypt come back to the United States, guess what there are still charges pending to against these American citizens. How could we possible think about giving funds to a government, that we had to pay bail money to, who still has charges pending against US citizens, one of them is the son of a cabinet official of the Obama administration, yet this is an Administration that rarely sees the difference between friend and foe… We need an administration that understands the difference between friends, and that is Israel, and foes, which is the Muslim Brotherhood.-Rep. Ros-Lehtinen
