During last week’s bus tour throughout the state of Iowa, Republican presidential candidate Rick Perry stated that he would slash the pay of members of Congress as well as slash their lifetime benefits- including their healthcare- and transform Congress into a part-time governing body.
I want to overhaul Washington in a lot of different ways, one of the first ways is a part-time Congress. They don’t need to be there full-time, they don’t need to be getting $174k a year, they don’t need to be having these lifetime benefits that they vote on themselves. – Governor Rick Perry
Do you think the 2nd Amendment will be destroyed by the Biden Administration?(2)
Perry believes that it should be Americans who determine whether or not their representatives in Congress get a pay raise, not the legislators themselves. Perry supports a constitutional amendment that deals directly with this issue, explaining that it is the citizens of Texas who decide whether their legislators get a raise or not.
