The Broward Republican Executive Committee (BREC) is having its annual Christmas Party at the famed Deicke Auditorium in Plantation, Florida, but the irony of selecting this particular venue to host this event cannot be ignored.BREC Chairman Richard DeNapoli, who these days wants to be referred to as ‘the honorable’ handpicked Rico Petrocelli to be the Executive Director of the local GOP. Petrocelli is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the party, including the scheduling of all social events. But now we learn that Petrocelli, the ex-Plantation city commissioner, has inexplicably selected the same venue for this year’s holiday party- the Deicke Auditorium- that Petrocelli used for parties where he was accused of committing ethics violations back in 2009.
Petrocelli has agreed to pay a state ethics fine of $1500- Miami Herald.
Do you think the 2nd Amendment will be destroyed by the Biden Administration?(2)
The complaint alleges that Petrocelli solicited gifts from city vendors to the PAL. PAL then passed the money through its books to Petrocelli to pay for a holiday political party.
The complaint stated that:
“Petrocelli solicited and accepted gifts in excess of $100 from persons who lobby his agency, principals of lobbyists and vendors. Petrocelli solicited and accepted gifts in excess of $100 which he failed to report.Petrocelli is charged with failing to report gifts in excess of $100.
Although the complaint is for checks written to Petrocelli in 2007, Roberts suspects the commissioner had been committing ethics violations with PAL money in 2006 and 2005, too.-Broward Beat
