It’s not often that you’re going to catch your congressman on the beach cleaning up after beachgoers on a weekend, but for Congressman Allen West, it’s just another day at his other “office”. West, an avid beach goer and certified master diver, took to the beach on Saturday with about three dozen supporters and cleaned trash off the sand. West also took a stab at cleaning up an ocean reef that was entangled with fishing line, hooks and other waste.
There was an obvious police presence partly due to a rumor that DNC Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman-Schultz had enlisted a squadron of liberal attack seagulls to lay siege on West and ‘rain down’ liberal Democrat talking points on Congressman West. Fortunately for West and the other grateful beach goers, the squadron of birdies was Missing in Action.
After Congressman West made a quick wardrobe change-a-r00, West made his way over to Jan’s Homemade Candies in Lauderdale-by-the-Sea, where he met up with a local troop of Boy Scout to make chocolate that will be sent overseas to U.S. Military personnel. West said that he was there to support a local business but mostly to lend support to the American troops stationed abroad. When asked about his steady hand at pouring chocolate, West replied, “I don’t waste chocolate, I don’t like to waste taxpayer dollars either.”
