Just in time for the July 4th weekend, the Florida Right to Life PAC announced its candidate endorsements for the August 24th Republican Primaries in both Federal and State races. Included in the endorsements were Marco Rubio for U.S. Senate; and candidates for U.S. Congress including Karen Harrington, David Rivera, Sandy Adams, and Vern Buchanan. Endorsements on the State level include Jeff Kottkamp for Attorney General and John Thrasher for State Senate.
Interestingly, the Florida Right to Life PAC skipped out on issuing an endorsement in the gubernatorial primary slugfest between Attorney General Bill McCollum and Rick Scott, and instead issued them both “A” ratings. The organization to its credit makes a distinction between an “endorsement”, which it defines as the “best pro-life candidate in the race, and a recommendation that our members vote for that person”, as opposed to the “A” rating, which “indicates that there is more than one pro-life candidate in the primary race, and the candidates returned a 100% pro-life questionnaire.”
Rubio issued the following comment regarding his endorsement- “For years, I was proud to work with Florida Right to Life to promote a culture of life and protect unborn children. I am honored to have their support and look forward to their counsel on pro-life policies that come before the Senate in the coming years,” said Rubio.

“I am truly humbled and honored to have received the endorsement of the Florida Right to Life, the most influential organization of its kind in Florida. Florida Right To Life has been on the front lines defending the sanctity of life for nearly four decades, and I look forward to working with the organization and its supporters as we advance a cause that we all value- respect for life at all stages- a cause that will ultimately bring about a more caring and just society,” said Karen Harrington in a prepared statement.
