As Palin waits for his call, Rubio rides bus to the Hannity show
My first stop on the Marco Rubio Bus tour was in Orlando Florida, where Rubio addressed a room of over 200 supporters and media. I arrived a few minutes late to the event because Gonzo the dog took a lot longer than usual to do his business, causing me to get on the Turnpike later than I had wanted. Upon arriving at the venue, I noticed a massive crowd of Charlie Crist supporters gathered across the street enthusiastically supporting their candidate, Governor Crist. I made my way over to them to ask them how they felt about the candidates in the Senatorial race. The supporters made several valid points and were dissappointed in Rubio for not attending a couple of events in their area. Contrary to what is said in the video, the consensus amongst the group was that they would absolutely not support Congressman Kendrick Meek and support the winner of the primary in the General election this November.(VIDEOS)
The next stop on the tour was for some healthy home-cooking at The Cracker Barrel. After we scarfed down Fried chicken, Fried Okra, mash potatoes and gravy, we proceeded on to the next event in The Villages, Florida. Several thousand golf cart driving fans attended the taping of Fox News channel’s, Hannity show with Marco Rubio as the featured guest.
Sean Hannity asked Rubio questions about the campaign, but he also followed up with him about Governor Sarah Palin’s remark that she “loved” Marco Rubio and that he needed to “call” her. For those of you not in the know, it was The Shark Tank that captured that exclusive video footage last weekend in New Orleans.
In reply to Palin’s offer, Rubio commented that, ”Well we need to do that, I would love to have her support…” Based on my understanding- me being a crack reporter and in the know, the call has already been made to the Palin camp.
Also appearing on the show along with Rubio was Florida Congressional superstar Allen West, who is running in congressional District 22 and Pam Bondi, who is running for Attorney General for the state of Florida. Bondi faces a very spirited primary where she is matched up with Holly Benson and Florida Lt. Governor Jeff Kottkamp. Kottkamp has outraised both Bondi and Benson by a few hundred thousand dollars, but has also been in the race longer.
Unfortunately, the bus tour was cut short do to Rubio’s father’s illness. We send our best to the Rubio family and pray that his father has a quick recovery.
