The Florida Democratic Gubernatorial debate saw the candidates sparring on a wide range of topics, and now the Republican Party of Florida has announced that the GOP’s gubernatorial candidates will debate during Florida’s two day “Sunshine Summit” event in Orlando in late June. The actual debate will be held on June 28th at the Gaylord Palms Resort & Convention Center from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm.
Bret Baier, a Fox News Political anchor, and Martha MacCallum, an anchor for the Story, will be moderating the debate that is being co-produced by the Republican Party of Florida and the Fox News Channel. One of the leading topics that is sure to be discussed will be the 2nd amendment and calls for gun control in light of recent school shootings. Said topic was also prominent in the Democratic debate.
Blaise Ingoglia, chairman of the RPOF, detailed that “In recent years, Florida has taken center stage in several pivotal elections and this year will be no different. These midterm elections are critical and as a battleground state all eyes will once again be on the Sunshine State. The Republican Party of Florida is excited to partner with FOX News Channel to showcase our passionate and experienced field of Republican candidates running for governor.”
So far, Adam Putnam, Florida’s Agricultural commissioner and Representative Ron DeSantis, endorsed by President Donald Trump, are the leading Republican candidates that are expected to soon announce their involvement in the debate.
