The president and many Republicans in congress are claiming victory over the fact that the House Intelligence Committee has closed down shop, and has found “no evidence of collusion or coordination” between the Russians and the Trump presidential campaign.
“After exhaustive document review and interviews with witnesses and government officials, the House Intelligence Committee’s investigation has found no evidence of collusion or coordination between the Trump campaign and the Russian government.”–Rep. Tom Rooney (R)
But are the committee’s findings conclusive and the views of the entire body? According to Republican Congressman Tom Rooney, the House committee has “lost all credibility” because he anticipates that there will be Republican and a Democratic conclusion to the investigation.
Appearing on CNN, Rooney stated,” we have lost all credibility and we’re going to issue probably two different reports, unfortunately,” adding,” so, in that regard, that’s why I called for the investigation to end.”
Here is President Trump’s tweet regarding the closing of the investigation:
THE HOUSE INTELLIGENCE COMMITTEE HAS, AFTER A 14 MONTH LONG IN-DEPTH INVESTIGATION, FOUND NO EVIDENCE OF COLLUSION OR COORDINATION BETWEEN THE TRUMP CAMPAIGN AND RUSSIA TO INFLUENCE THE 2016 PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION.
