San Juan, Puerto Rico’s liberal Democratic Mayor, Carmen Yulín CruzCarmen Yulín Cruz(pictured), made national news a weeks back when she took on President Trump for his response to deadly Hurricane Maria that ravaged U.S. commonwealth.
Cruz’s politicization of the natural disaster was nothing more than shameful and has been called out by members of the US Congress.
One member in particular is Florida Congressman Curbelo (R), who along with other members of the Florida congressional delegation, has been actively involved in the Puerto Rico recovery efforts.
Curbelo told the Shark Tank that he was disappointed in Cruz’s politicization of the natural disaster, but only after emphasizing that Jennifer Gonzalez Colon, the resident commissioner and congressional representative for Puerto Rico, and Governor Ricardo Rossello, were “the most credible an representative elected leaders in Puerto Rico”
Curbelo added that he felt it was “regrettable” that “some people” use these forms of natural disasters to “play politics.”
