Agriculture Commissioner candidate Rep. Matt Caldwell has just scored the endorsement of Florida’s “Yosemite Sam” Congressman, Rep. Matt Gaetz (R).
Gaetz is a freshman member of Congress who while in the Florida Legislature, supported and penned open carry gun policies, making him the undisputed gun-toting legislature up in Tallahassee.
Now Gaetz is backing Caldwell, another pro-gun legislature, who if he becomes AG Commissioner of Florida, will have the task of overseeing the conceal carry licenses process in the state.
Not to get too far into the their legislative bromance, here is what Gaetz said about Caldwell:
“I support Matt Caldwell because he is a consistent conservative. He has never voted to support things like: Obamacare expansion, the Charlie Crist tax increases, and big brother-style red light cameras. And, he’s the only candidate in this race who has refused to take public tax dollars to finance his campaign.”
Caldwell reciprocated the niceties:
“I am proud to have the support of Congressmen Gaetz. I worked with Matt in the Florida House and he is not only an exceptional leader but a true, principled conservative. With his support and the support of Floridians across the Sunshine State, I hope to serve the people of the great State of Florida as the next Commissioner of Agriculture.”
