Very few things are as crazy as Rep. Jamie Raskin (D-MD) untamed hairdo, but the congressman’s bill to have establish the “Oversight Commission on Presidential Capacity” because he feels President Trump is missing a few marbles, is just as nuts.
Raskin’s bill, which has been backed by about twenty other Democratic lawmakers, is nothing more than an embarrassing political stunt targeting the president.
Even the former liberal Democratic congressman and presidential candidate, Dennis Kucinich, has come out railing against Raskin’s stunt of having President Trump’s mental state examined.
“It’s a political statement, not a medical statement…I think it’s destroying the party as an effective opposition…People want political parties to be focused on America’s economic needs, jobs, wages, heath care, education, retirement security and peace — and they want American politicians to be constructive, not destructive.”-Dennis Kucinich on Fox and Friends
Kucinich also spoke to the obvious fact many Democrats are having a hard time accepting that Hillary Clinton lost the 2016 presidential election to Donald Trump.
Citing the 25th Amendment to the Constitution, Raskin’s bill states the following:
“(If the) Commission finds that the President is temporarily or permanently impaired by physical illness or disability, mental illness, mental deficiency, or alcohol or drug use to the extent that the person lacks sufficient understanding or capacity to execute the powers and duties of the office of President.”
The Amendment states that if the president cannot fill his duties, those duties are then passed on to the vice president.
