President Trump’s expected executive order to lift restrictions on offshore oil drilling and gas exploration on federal land and in coastal waters has some Floridians concerned about possible drilling of the eastern coast of the state.
Sen. Bill Nelson (D), who will soon be facing the daunting task of running for re-election against a very well-funded Gov. Rick Scott (R), took to the Senate floor to express his opposition and concern over the president’s executive edict, which is supposed to be announced later this week.
“I hope he refrains from issuing this executive order, but if he does, this senator and a bipartisan delegation from Florida will fight.”
But while Nelson and others are crying foul about drilling off the coast of Florida, no one knows what the executive order will contain.
For all we know, the offshore oil drilling could exclude Florida, and focus on just ANWAR.
