Oh Frankie, what have you gotten yourself into?
State Senator Frank Artiles (R), who after slamming down a few Mojitos recently made some off-color and derogatory remarks to two black members of the Florida legislature, is fighting back against those looking to see his head on the chopping block.
The black caucus in the Florida legislature is calling for Artiles to resign after he call one of their own a “bitch” and used the word “niggas” to describe six Republican senators close to Senate President Joe Negron (R).
According to the POLITICO, Artiles contends that the dispute between him and Sen. Gibson was over past respective pieces of legislation.
Gibson opposed one of Artiles’ bills, and Artiles opposed on of hers.
“Audrey, stop being a b— on my bills and I’ll stop being a f—— ass—- on yours,” Artiles said he told her.
Senator Perry Thurston penned a formal complaint asking for Artiles to be removed from the Florida Senate, stating that Artiles did indeed use “Nigger” and not “Niggas” in his drunken rant:
“…Pursuant to Senate Rule 1.43,1 am filing a complaint with you as Chair of the Senate Rules Committee for the expulsion of Sen. Frank Artiles for the egregious comments I heard him make to Sen. Audrey Gibson and others at the Governor’s Club Lounge on Monday, April 17.
Sen. Artiles referred to Sen. Gibson as a “bitch” and a “girl” during a late night tirade. He also referred to President Negron as “a pussy.” I heard him use the word “nigger” when he was talking to Sen. Gibson and others about President Negron’s election as Senate President. This was a reference to other Republican Senators who supported President Negron. Sen. Artiles claims that he used the word “niggas” when referencing the Senators in question.
Finally, Sen. Gibson told me Monday night that Sen. Artiles also called her “a fucking asshole” during an exchange I did not hear. I asked Sen. Artiles if he had said that, and he denied it initially, but then apologized for calling her “a fucking asshole.”
Senate Rule 1.35, Legislative conduct, reads: “Every Senator shall conduct himself or herself to justify the confidence placed in him or her by the people and, by personal example and
admonition to colleagues, shall maintain the integrity and responsibility of his or her office.”
Sen. Artiles’ conduct justifies expulsion from the Senate, a remedy that is available under Rule 1.43.”
As far as his use of the “N-word,” Artiles said that he was just chanelling in his inner thug, and used “niggas” in describing those six GOP senators that he has taken issue with. Artiles said that he did not say the word “Nigger” as Thurston contends.
Hmmm, where is the outcry from the black caucus when “niggas” is used at nauseum by the better part of the black community, and many other non-black individuals who like Artiles, use the slang term to come off as thuggish or “hard?”
Artiles has since apologized, but that is not enough for some legislators and their political party
As Artiles contends, this may be simply political as his senate seat will be targeted in 2018.
Oh wait, Artiles also called Senate President Joe Negron (R) “a pussy.”
“Joe Negron is a pussy,” Artiles told Lawson and Gibson. “Things are running the way they are because of the six [N-word] who put him there.”
Well, after the conservative Negron pushed for state and federal dollars to be used to buy farmland to appease environmentalists, I am sure many statewide conservatives would agree with Artiles description of Negron for supporting a not-so-conservative measure.
