The anticipated 2018 senatorial cage match between Florida Governor Rick Scott (R) and incumbent U.S. Senator Bill Nelson (D) edges closer to become reality, as a new poll taken by the University of North Florida shows Nelson with a early 6-point lead over Scott in a head-to-head match-up.
Yeah, it’s’ really early for polling, but not really.
Polls are always entertaining and fuel the political fodder that we all feast on.
The U of N. Florida poll (by the numbers:
-Number of registered voters polled: 973
-Margin of error: 3.14%
-Margin: Nelson over Scott 44-38
-Scott’s disapproval rating: 40%
-Scott’s approval rating: 46%
-Nelson’s disapproval rating: 28%
-Nelson’s approval rating: 42%
While Scott plays coy whenever he is asked about whether or not he will definitely announce a run against Nelson, a Scott senatorial run is the worse kept secret in Florida.
Nelson, who would be running for re-election to the senate for a fourth term, says he is ready to take on Scott, if the challenge presents itself.
