Des Moines, Iowa-Speaking to employees at the Nationwide insurance company, former Governor Jeb Bush made his case for why Iowans should vote for him in their upcoming caucus.
As always, Bush proved to all that he is probably the most substantive candidate in the race, as he detailed his tax, education, economic, and foreign policy positions, as well as taking shots at Donald Trump. No Republican presidential event would be the same without an attack on Donald Trump.
Bush said that on Day 1 of his presidency, he would move the U.S. embassy in Tel Aviv to Jerusalem, citing the rift in the relationship between the U.S. and Israel since President Obama took office.
Do you think the 2nd Amendment will be destroyed by the Biden Administration?(2)
The rest of the Arab world looks at our relationship with Israel and they say, ‘if Israel can’t get a good deal from us,’ how are they going to get a good deal. And if they think that, then they will start to move away from us.
Bush also added that the “unilateral” nuclear deal with Iran, a country that who has “brutally” executed hundreds of its people over the past six months, sent the wrong message to the rest of world.
After being asked about the lack of trust Americans have in the federal government, especially with the National Security Agency and other spy agencies, Bush stated that “there are no violations of civil liberties with the NSA programs,” adding that “if there are, there should be prosecution of individuals, rogue individuals, that might be doing something, because there is no evidence that is taking place. Now to how Bush feels about Trump.
Like I said, attacking Donald Trump is always a big part of every presidential candidate’s campaign strategy.
Bush said that “poor Donald” was “not a conservative,” and that his “views on things have transformed miraculously.”
Bush then said that it wasn’t conservative of Trump to want to add a 14% tax on assets, joking than even “Bernie Sanders doesn’t even think you should tax assets.”
The much anticipated Iowa caucus is February 1, and Bush finds himself at a distant 5th place.
