Billionaire Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump has completely taken over American politics since entering the GOP presidential race a couple months back.
All of the recent polls have Trump winning with double-digits and running away with the nomination, leaving many of the pre-Trump presidential announcement favorites to become the GOP nominee scratching their heads as to why their campaigns have all but faltered.Senator Marco Rubio, former Governor Jeb Bush, and Gov. Scott Walker were all considered frontrunners before and after they made their respected announcements about running for president in 2016.
Since Trump got in the race, this has all changed. The presumed future of the GOP, Rubio, is seeing his presidential campaign circling the political toilet bowl, as the new polling shows that he is losing badly in South Carolina, and has lost ground to Trump in his home state of Florida.
Do you think the 2nd Amendment will be destroyed by the Biden Administration?(2)
Rubio’s consultants are from South Carolina, and have bragged that they expect Rubio to do very well in their home state. Rubio has spent a lot of time in the Palmetto State, but the polls don’t reflect his efforts.
This image is painful to read. These SC poll numbers can’t be right, right? Yup, they are.
In what some would call an act of desperation, Jeb Bush, who probably has lost the most campaign traction to Trump, is out on the offensive against the real estate mogul, taking jabs at him over his position on immigration reform.
The “joyful tortoise” in the race is not-so-happy anymore. Trump recently said that he feels Bush is upset because he feels entitled to the GOP presidential nomination.
Walker seems to be causing himself the most problems. The Wisconsin governor seems to be struggling to find his footing on immigration, giving the perception that he could waffle on the issue again, or on any other pressing issue that Americans are facing.
According to the latest Real Clear Politics average of GOP presidential polls, Trump, who will tell you he is doing great and is #1, is sitting high on his frontrunner perch with 22% support, while Bush has 10.7%, Walker with 7.7%, and Rubio tied with Senator Ted Cruz 7.3% support.
Dr. Ben Carson is benefiting the most from the GOP dust up, as is businesswoman Carly Fiorina, who outshined the entire field of 17 GOP contenders last month in the first GOP presidential debates in Cleveland.Again, it is still too early to call this race. In a couple of weeks, CNN will host the second GOP debate, and if you thought the knives came out against Trump in the last debate, wait until this debate.
This debate could turn out to be a blood bath, as the GOP contenders will have no other choice but to go after Trump in an attempt to slow down his forward momentum.
I expect Trump to be ready for every attack waged against him, and will respond to those attacks the way only Donald Trump would.
