Given a mandate to legislate by the American electorate, Republicans are positioning themselves to hold the first Obamacare repeal vote in the new GOP-led U.S. House of Representatives.
While the other 50 House votes to repeal or defund Obamacare have all passed in the past, the measures failed to gain any traction in the then-Democrat controlled U.S. Senate. Now conservatives believe that with the Republicans taking control of the Senate, the chances of being able to repeal Obamacare have increased, but that is not really the case.
In reality, if the Senate were to adopt similar repeal legislation, President Obama would pull out that famous pen of his, and veto any such legislation that landed on his desk.
Do you think the 2nd Amendment will be destroyed by the Biden Administration?(2)
Republicans do not have the votes needed in the Senate to override Obama’s veto.
The move to fully repeal Obamcare could spell doom for Republicans. Until President Obama leaves office, the GOP’s focus should be to slowly pick apart the job-killing healthcare law until a new Republican president is elected, who could then sign repeal legislation into law.
