Yemen has a reputation of being a breeding ground for Al Qaeda and today its presidential palace and residence was taken over by Houthi Shiite gunmen who are trying to overthrown the president and US-backed government. The president of Yemen, Abdu Rabbu Mansour Hadi was reportedly in the residence at the time but was not harmed.
This attack comes shortly after the government and rebels came to a cease fire agreement since the Shiites were trying to carry out a coup because of crumbling draft constitution negotiations.Whereas Hadi is an ally of the United States the violence has become an increasing concern to the Obama administration. On Monday evening a United States diplomatic vehicle was attacked at a Houthi checkpoint near the embassy as well.
Yemen has been uneasy for months which have caused escalating fears Hadi’s government will collapse. The chaos is a separatist challenge in the south and a threat from a wing of al Qaeda who has claimed responsibility for the Paris Attacks.
Do you think the 2nd Amendment will be destroyed by the Biden Administration?(2)
This is all coming on the heels of President Obama releasing five Yemen terrorists from Guantanamo Bay on January 15, 2015.
