Tahmooressi served our nation honorably in the Marines, and it’s unacceptable that the Mexican and U.S. governments allowed him to languish in a Mexican prison for so long. It’s been a long ordeal for Sgt. Tahmooressi and his family, but I’m relieved that he is finally being freed and that their nightmare is coming to an end.
“My office met with Sgt. Tahmooressi’s mother in Florida earlier this year and had been in contact with the family since his arrest. It’s been our honor to work on his and his family’s behalf to help bring him home. Tonight, I join Andrew’s family and friends in looking forward to his return home.”-Senator Marco Rubio (R)
“I applaud the release of Sgt. Tahmooressi. Though this discharge should have occurred long ago; I’m grateful for this man’s courage, his service to our country, and for his return home to America. His family can rest assured that he will receive the proper medical attention and care befitting one of our nation’s heroes in uniform.”-Rep. Dennis Ross (R)“Andrew Tahmooressi’s ordered release by Mexican courts is welcomed news. We await his prompt and safe return to his family. Ann and I have continued to pray for his release, and we know his family is looking forward to the long overdue reunion. Andrew’s mother, Jill Tahmooressi, should be praised for her determination as she fought tirelessly for her son.”
On June 27th, 2014 Governor Rick Scott wrote a letter to Secretary of State, John Kerry, to “personally engage the Mexican government and use the resources of the Department of State to intervene on Andrew’s behalf and to resolve this matter quickly so he can return home soon.”-Gov. Rick Scott (R)
