With just 34 days left until the all important Florida Governor’s election, the race between Governor Rick Scott (Republican) and Fmr Governor Charlie Crist (R/I/D/?) is neck in neck. New polling compiled by Real Clear Politics Average shows the race is in a statistical DEAD HEAT and both sides are keeping up the pressure on one another to win the Governor’s seat.Charlie Crist, the once heralded savior of Florida has seen his campaign flounder since its announcement. In April of 2014 Charlie Crist has a nearly 10 point lead on the governor, yet has seen his competitive edge all but vanish. The fact remains, that democrats are simply unenthusiastic, unengaged, and not excited about their nominee. Perhaps this is for no other reason than the fact that just 8 short years ago, many of these people voted against him. Just last month, when President Bill Clinton came to South Florida to “endorse” Charlie, the room was 60 percent empty and the President barely even mentioned Crist.
Just today, Crist’s campaign manager, Omar Khan sent out a dire plea of support for the failing campaign and made a startling admission about the campaign:

OUCH! Such a startling admission from the campaign manager hardly sends out a message of confidence to supporters, and just goes to embolden the Scott Campaign. But the lack of confidence doesn’t end there. Jessica Clark, the deputy campaign manager of the Crist Campaign also stated the successes of the Scott campaign: “Rick Scott has outspent us 3:1!” she said in a recent email. But the desperation doesn’t end there. The campaign sent out this desperate cry for help, and yet again showed governor Scott’s campaign superiority:
“With the money Rick Scott’s campaign has spent against us, there’s a good chance that the last thing a person could see before they vote is one of his many…ads”
This brings up several questions: why hasn’t the national Democratic Party, the president, the Democratic Governors Association, and the Obama machine come to Charlie’s rescue? Charlie has Obama’s campaign manager on 20,000 a month retainer. Charlie also has 7 senior Obama campaign and White House members on staff. The lack of engagement from the national party should be a cause for concern – so much so that Charlie is asking for just $1 dollar to help his doomed campaign.
On the other hand, however, Governor Scott has been pounding the pavement: crisscrossing the state meeting with everyone from Jews in Aventura to Hispanics in little Havana, Scott has been speaking about his successes as governor – contrasting it with the failures of the Crist Administration.
While this race is hotly contested, it will be interesting to see how the campaign plays out. Stay tuned to Shark-Tank for up to the minute breaking developments.
