The U.S. military’s segregated fighting unit from the island of Puerto Rico, the “Borinqueneers,” are being awarded the Congressional Gold MedalĀ for their decades-long year’s of combat service in WWII, Korea, and Vietnam.
Senator Marco Rubio (R), Lt. Governor Lopez-Cantera, and scores of other local and state elected officials, attended a ceremony Orlando,Florida, to honor the bravery and sacrifice of these “Borinqueneers.” (Rubio and Lopez-Cantera are pictured with a Purple Heart recipient)Remember, this is the “Congressional Gold Medal,” and one would expect that members of Congress would make it an effort to attend this high-profile event, and pay their respects, right?
Well, while several of the local members of the U.S. House of Representatives were not able to attend, a couple of them sent representatives in their stead.
Do you think the 2nd Amendment will be destroyed by the Biden Administration?(2)
The head-scratching moment of the event was the absences of one Representative Alan Grayson (R).
The event was held within Grayson’s congressional district, a district which contains a huge Hispanic voting population, predominantly comprised of Puerto Ricans, who came out in droves to vote him into office back in 2012.
When dignitaries were introduced during the event, Grayson was clearly absent.Grayson’s chief Republican rival in this year’s mid-term election, Navy veteran Jorge Bonilla, was in attendance.
No Arroz con Pollo for Grayson.
