Sarah Palin May Not Have Conducted Full Vetting Of Recent Endorsee

Former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin’s political action committee, Sarah PAC, has endorsed Florida congressional candidate Lizbeth Benacquisto in the FL-CD 19 special Republican election.

Palin expressed her support for Benacquisto on her Facebook page.

“…Lizbeth Benacquisto is the only proven conservative in the race. She served her constituents well and has never forgotten who put her in office – the people. Lizbeth will take these values to Washington to fight for us all.”

Palin added more praise for Benacquisto, as well as taking a shot at her Republican primary opponent, Curt Clawson.

Lizbeth Benacquisto is a proven conservative with an unwavering commitment to the principles of our Founders and to the sanctity of life. In the Florida State Senate she has a record that demonstrates a willingness to take on special interests and rein in the scope of government. A fierce advocate for her constituents, Lizbeth has introduced and pushed through legislation to protect our senior citizens.

We need this fighter and advocate for women and innocent life in Washington!

I admire and respect the good folks supporting other candidates in this race, but we’ll have to disagree on this one. Lizbeth is running against a wealthy self-funded candidate with lots of splashy campaign ads claiming to be a conservative.

Since when do conservatives stand for crony capitalism and government bailouts? Please do your homework, voters. Look beyond the fancy anonymous campaign ads. Look at a candidate’s record, not just their rhetoric. Lizbeth is a genuine conservative with a track record to prove it.-Sarah Palin

Palin rips on Clawson for supposedly supporting “crony capitalism,” and for the his past company’s acceptance of a government bailout.

But what about Benacquisto’s record of raising taxes while she sat on the Village Council in Palm Beach County?

“We were pleased to be awarded the stimulus dollars…I fought very hard on the Metropolitan Planning Organization.” — Councilwoman Lizbeth Benacquisto, Sun-Sentinel, April 28, 2010

In addition, notice that the family photo her campaign supplied Sarah PAC does not include Benacquisto’s current husband.

Whenever Palin releases a family picture of her family, it almost always includes her husband Todd, right?

As we pointed out in a previous story, Lizbeth Benacquisto’s current husband is none other than the prolific former Democrat bundler and donor Bruce Strayhorn, who backed both Obama and Hillary Clinton in 2008.

Yes, Benacquisto’s husband bundled and donated thousands of dollars to help defeat Sarah Palin and John McCain in the 2008 Presidential election.

After Clinton lost to Senator Barack Obama, Strayhorn jumped on board the Obama presidential campaign, being quoted as saying “we have to make a change in Washington.”-Shark Tank

With a husband who actively worked against the conservative movement, and promoted the dangerous liberal agenda of Barack Obama, I don’t blame Benacquisto for excluding her husband from the family photo.

The race in this special Republican congressional election has reached new lows, as all of the candidates in the race have taken some cheap shots, as well as some valid ones against each other.

Throw in a Super PAC and some other PAC’s, who have attacked Clawson, Kreegel, and Benacquist, and you have a good old fashion mudslinging congressional campaign.

This race is a toss up. All of the candidates in the race can back up their claims of being conservative, but all of those conservative bona fides, each one of them claims to have, could be called into question.

Pretty sad. You should post your disclaimer. Paid comment from the Lizbeth Benacquisto staff

Not paid staff. Contrary to what you like to think you, do not, know everything. I stand by my previous statements and your past history.

  • Trudy Stewart

She tries to preach values. Where are her values. Catholic – she was divorced and having an affair before she divorced. Palin endorsed her while sitting in Alaska. Palin has no idea of the Local issues facing us. She never even interviewed the other candidates. Great job on the article.

  • Values Are Vital

Javier, good job on the article. A lot of missing pieces of the puzzle with this story. Trudy made sense, what good is an endorsement if you have never spoken to the other candidates.

Yeah, Sarah Palin has now made herself irrelevant to me.
I find it incredibly ironic that Benaquisto’s husband (a Hillary & Obama supporter in 2008) was also a pro-choice activist locally while his brother sat on the board of a pro-life ministry-it was a joke locally. And yet a live phone call I got on Tuesday evening announced “Are you aware that LIzbeth Benaquisto is the only pro-life candidate in her race?” I set the caller straight and I was not polite.
I’m guessing if she was really pro-life at heart the way most of us are, she would not have married a liberal activist who stood against everything she claims to represent.
The person making the phone call was a liar. The candidate she represents is disingenuous and I am REALLY tired of being represented by liars in our government. Lizbeth will not get my vote for anything, ever.
And Sarah has sadly shown she was not quite as smart as I thought she was.

A person is married to who they are married to.

I can’t see holding her husbands views against her when she has a record of her own

  • MasterBlaster

Palin said the most conservative candidate in the race. Javier has reading problems.

I’m really disappointed in Sarah Palin. She obviously didn’t vet Benacquisto. She voted for Common Core and is not co-sponsoring bill to repeal it. She voted to expand Medicaid. She voted to take federal funds for the bullet train debacle. She’s a go along to get along Republican. Clawson has published his economic plan supporting the conservative principles he represents. Why not talk about that?

I am too. I would have preferred her wait until the primary was over before an endorsement. I now believe that Palin is trying to get in good with the Establishment in case she decides to run for something again — she’ll need their money.

I agree with Ron below– I am now looking more seriously at Michael Dreikorn. Seems to share my views as well as being smart and accomplished. We still have time to compare!

I have to agree with Col. West! I stand firm on the facts we need military men to be in our elected officials! In my learned opinion with Obama on the loose and the House not doing anything I see our country in grave danger! Obama has systematically taken our military apart. And to show you a prime example of what we can expect from Russia if something would bring our country to a standstill! When the Ukrainian soldiers stood in formation singing their national anthem the comment was made about these young giants going to the Gulags in Russia! And with Obama’s camps, which incidentally were approved by congress, a huge amount would be put there and most likely without food! All of that would be a death sentence! Russia is now arming all of Latin America and basically all of the countries that surround America! That means we are vulnerable to be annihilated and out Navy and military basis could be neutralized immediately and we would have no recourse! But back to the point we need a military presence in the Senate and the House of Representatives in that we can see now that the people we have sitting in the chambers and doing nothing to curtail Obama and they sat on the duffs letting him, Obama, stack the deck with enemy and for our governing body to let Obama push practices that were 100% evil and the items he pushed as tyranny, treasonous as well as an all out push to make our relationship with our beliefs non existent to worship our God and to forbid our Military that they cannot mention the name of Jesus under any circumstances! I.e. Obama wants our way of life to diminish and he would take all of our leaders and ship them out from our country! It would be a rehash of the way Joseph Stalin took control of Russia!
