Univision Anchor- ‘American’s Lives Depend on Illegal Immigrants’

jorgeUnivision’s Jorge Ramos recently gave his two pesos on the current illegal immigration debate in an interview on ABC News where he made the case that illegal immigrants should be allowed to a pathway to citizenship. For those of you who may not know, Ramos has been at the heart of the Univision/Senator Rubio falling out.

Ramos prefaced his remarks by stating that as an immigrant from Mexico, he would not have have realized the success he attained in the United States if he had never left Mexico.  Ramos added that “we (Hispanics) have contributed more to this country than what we have taken away from it, its a great business to have us here.”

According to Ramos, the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) has stated that “for every dollar that we (Hispanics) take in benefits, most we are talking about undocumented immigrants in this country,” they create two dollars.

Ramos then noted that thousands of U.S. businesses are in violation of current U.S. immigration law- complicit because of the tens of thousands of illegal immigrants they illegally employ- but his claim that Americans’ lives are dependent upon illegal immigrants is a highly questionable one-

I think we have to be very honest and we have to know that undocumented immigrants are thousands of American companies who hire them, and because there are millions of Americans who benefit from them every single day from their work. What we had this morning for breakfast was harvested by immigrants, the houses and apartments where we live  were built by undocumented immigrants, whenever we go to a restaurant or to a Hospital, or to a hotel, we are being served by undocumented immigrants. It would be disingenuous and it would be hypocritical to criticize undocumented immigrants when we here in the United States, created the circumstances to bring them here, especially that we are benefit from their work every single day. – Jorge Ramos

Ramos’ statement that Americans are best served by illegal immigrants at every turn is a huge stretch, to say the least.

Is Jorge Ramos living in fantasy land. With the high unemployment rate Americans have, maybe the right way to look at this situation is that illegals are taking American jobs. Hello, anybody home. People always have a way of justifying bad and ILLEGAL behavior.

America’s life depends of the government strictly and seriously enforcing our immigration laws so that it means something when those who choose to defy our laws are confronted.
The government should be serious about enforcing our laws rather than mining for votes, illegal or legal.

Let’s put it this way..You have a party in your house and all the people invited come at the front door to be greeted , but after twelve o’clock you found out the there are a group of people are jumping throu the fence on your back yard without invitation..What are you going to do , be happy with that or are you going to call the police to take care of the uninvited guests or
do nothing and welcome them..Jorge Ramos is a confess antiamerican .What he deserve is to be kick out of this country
that has given him all the opportunities that mexico had denied him to get in his own country..

Jorge Ramos doesn’t speak for all Hispanics, yet some of his argument is valid. Illegal immigrants do horribly hard jobs that companies here pay them almost nothing for. Yet their work hardly constitues what keeps this country up and running.

Illegals leave their countries because they are hungry and desperate for work–not because they love America or want to contribute to it’s economic welfare.

I’ve had the pleasure of knowing folks that are here illegaly. Most work hard, and don’t complain. They live as frugally as possible and send most of their money back to their families These folks are seldom thinking about investing their money in our economy.

Besides, it costs around 10 grand to pay a coyote to bring a person–if they make it alive– across the border. Making citizenship easy for illegal immigrants would encourage more people to use this high risk, and costly way of getting here.
If those wanting to come here illegaly took their 10 grand coyote fee, (which I wonder how they manage to get in the first place), and used it to help themselves with say, a family business in their own country, they’d most likely end up with way more than what an American company would ever be able to give them.
And this is what America should help encourage, not more illegal immigration.
