Billboards Promoting Islam Tells South Florida “Se Habla Espanol”

islam site

By Javier Manjarres

The religion of Islam has made great strides enlarging its ranks of late, as it is currently the fastest growing religion in the world today.  The U.S. has also seen a spike in the number of conversions to Islam as well as an increase in immigration by Muslims worldwide.

Broward County has had several recent incidents where Muslims have clashed with Christians in protests regarding Israel as well as about the construction of several Mosques throughout the county.

In light these controversies, a newly established billboard campaign promoting the website is now clearly visible from both the northbound and southbound lanes of I-95.  We reviewed the site page by page and it’s essentially a ‘411’ website for both Muslims and for persons who are interested in learning more about the religion.

Islam 1 is very user friendly and covers a wide number of topics pertaining to Islam including its relationship with other religions, so-called “misconceptions” about Sharia Law as well as other highly questionable claims about the religion that will certainly raise eyebrows.  The site even has a link to an information page that tells you how to arrange a tour of a mosque.  And this being South Florida, the billboards dutifully inform us that the shadowy organization’s representatives also “Se Habla Espanol.”

Because of website’s decision to promote a highly questionable version of Islam, we decided to do a simple search to determine who the owner of the website is as well as most likely paid for the billboards.  After running a basic search, we found hat the site’s domain is registered to Network Solutions, LLC., a web-based internet service provider, indicating that the owners of the site have decided to remain anonymous.

So just who or what organization is responsible for, and why do they feel the need to hide their true identity?  Could it be that the reason for their secrecy is that this website is financed by foreign donors?  Perhaps these financiers have ties to extremist groups such as the Muslim Brotherhood? But upon closer inspection, the site is “managed by ICNA,” the Islamic Circle of North America.

The WhyIslam message is run under the umbrella of the ICNA, which promotes some very controversial ideas by some very controversial individuals.  Various reports show that the ICNA has a prolific resume, including:

Supporting the imposition of sharia law.

Having ties to the terrorist organization, Hamas.

Demonstrating deep ties to the fundamentalist Pakistani political party, Jamaat-e-Islami.

Expressing support for individuals such as the Ayatollah Khomeini and Mahmoud Ahmadenijad.-(Newsbusters)

According to several posts on regarding the existence of Jesus Christ, Muslims must believe in Jesus Christ, for the Quran says that Jesus was a prophet of Mohammed, “only a messenger of Allah. (Source-Whyislam, and Here)

“O People of the Scripture! Do not exaggerate in your religion, and do not say anything concerning Allah except the truth. The Messiah, Jesus son of Mary, was only a messenger of Allah, and His word which He conveyed unto Mary, and a spirit from Him. So believe in Allah and His messengers . . .” (Quran 4:171; see also 66:12)

The Quran confirms that Jesus was born of a virgin woman. When the angel announced to Mary, on whom be peace, that she will bear a child, she said: “My Lord! How can I have a child when no mortal has touched me.”

She received the following reply: “So (it will be). Allah creates what He will. If He decrees a thing, He says unto it only: Be! and it is.” (Quran 3: 45, 47)

islam 2

Muslims claim that Islam is a peaceful religion that has been demonized due to the acts of extremists who have grossly interpreted in their own way. But many who have closely studied the Quran say that the Quran itself has numerous passages that blatantly call for ‘infidels’ to be severely punished and/or killed.  Here are just a few of these passages-

“Fight those who do not believe in Allah, nor in the latter day, nor do they prohibit what Allah and His Messenger have prohibited, nor follow the religion of truth, out of those who have been given the Book, until they pay the tax in acknowledgment of superiority and they are in a state of subjection.”
Qur’an 9:29

The punishment of those who wage war against Allah and His Messenger, and strive with might and main for mischief through the land is: execution, or crucifixion, or the cutting off of hands and feet from opposite sides, or exile from the land: that is their disgrace in this world, and a heavy punishment is theirs in the Hereafter;
Qur’an 5:33

But Muslims see no reason to believe that the Bible is the final revelation from God. They believe that after the Old and New Testaments God revealed a final testament: the Quran. For Muslims, therefore, the ultimate authority is the Quran itself. They believe it to be the final revelation from God confirming the truth of the previous scriptures and yet acting as a quality control on the previous scriptures (Quran 5:48).

One section on the that really sounds the alarms is the section that attempts to “dispel myths” about Shariah Law.  Here is the website’s descriptions of the two forms of punishment under Shariah Law.  Pay close attention to the wording-

Shariah: Dispelling Myths

The Shariah consists of hadd punishments and tazir punishments; hadd crimes overstep God’s set boundaries whereas tazir crimes are committed against the society. The following hadd crimes have been mentioned in the Quran: murder, apostasy from Islam, theft, adultery, defamation, robbery and consumption of alcohol. Common tazir crimes include bribery, selling tainted or defected products, treason, usury, selling obscene pictures, etc.

While hadd punishments have been fixed in the Quran (such as retributive killing for murder and the chopping off of a limb for theft) there are many safeguards which are important to mention. For any punishment to actually take place, proof must be provided, along with a confession of the crime or witnesses testifying against the criminal. If any of these is not sufficiently presented, Islamic law requires the hadd crime to be treated as a tazir crime. (Some of the tazir penalties include counseling, fines, flogging, confinement, etc.)

In essence, retaliatory murder and malicious battery like “chopping off a limb” is ok by the Quran, as long as you can prove the crime in question was committed and provide someone who corroborates the incriminating offense.

The site says that Islam condemns forced marriages, honor killings and the “unfortunate deaths caused as a result of misguided emotions must be dealt by the courts as murders.”

“Misguided emotions?”  Is that any excuse for Muslims who commit murder in the name of family honor?  Does the Quran incite such killings? You be the judge-

Not that I would ask my “homeboys” to tag that canvass but if they should, no one would be surprised and even fewer would protest.

    Just a thought.

    • John

I think that’s the one time I would actually encourage tagging.

  • steveegg

I’m not surprised. After all, they overran Spain when they started out

    • Uzoozy

Before the muslims arrived in Spain the Inquisitions reduced the local by 95 million.

      • http://na tomas alla

The statement that “90+ million people were killed by the Spanish Inquisition” is absolutely a lie. I will give a handsome reward if there is any evidence of this wild statement. I have been teaching Spanish history for the last 23 years and find that such wild statements are grossly false. Shame on you. If you must deceive the ignorant, go on to one of the Soros websites. They wouldn’t know the difference.

As someone who has taught World Religions in different forms and for online, state college and community college higher ed. institutions since 2005 – current, I am always perplexed by Islamic thought, belief and practice. On the one hand, Muhammad was certainly an improvement over the regnant Arabian and Ancient Near Eastern polytheism of the millenia prior to the birth of Christianity, then Islam. Child sacrifice (fertility cult), male or female cultic prostitution and what any true monotheist would call “idolatry” were the norm of the ancient Mesopotamians, Arabians, et al who populated what we now know of as Iraq, the Saudi peninsula, Syria, Jordan, Palestine, Egypt, etc. However, and here it should be interesting to see how Islam, in its efforts to maintain any sort of trade relationships with the rest of the international community, will not alter its more severe practices. Just as St. Thomas Aquinas, Great Medieval Doctor of the Roman Catholic Church justified executions to silence heretics, but only became replaced by a modernized Roman Catholic approach to inter-religious interactions (especially post-Vatican II) so also will 80% of Muslim geographical areas likely “modernize.” International business investment is nearly impossible where security threats persist (e.g. BP Oil Fields in which radical Islamic terrorists can capture, even murder anyone who doesn’t agree with “their brand of Islam”). Thus, the U.S.A., Latin America, Sub-Saharan Africa, India, China, Japan and the E.U. will all likely function as an “economic shield” in agreement with moderate Islamic regions willing to “police their own members” so that international trade is even possible. You cannot trade with or even interact with someone holding an AK-47 to your head . . . Moderate Islam knows this, and I think will see that for every gain radicals achieve “by the sword” or my misleading propaganda that Islam loses support economically within the global community if it does not regulate its own to live peacefully within an internationally diverse global community. I would expect like St. Thomas Aquinas’ calling for executing heretics having been discarded within global Catholic belief and practice that so also will moderate Islam win out by default in silencing its own members who promote violence or conquest.

    • Greg

You should never use the words “moderate” or “islam” in the same sentence. Islam is islam, period!

      • Uzoozy

Islam is Islam, you are right on.
1.5 billion muslims are smart enough to know to whom they should pray ” to One God ”
Read the Quran and get a better understanding of the fastest growing religion in the World.
        All the best

        • Igor Terrible

Why don’t you guys read ‘the universal delaration of human rights’ first, if I need a better understanding of “the fastest growing religion in the world” (mainly due to demographics- keeping women in their place!) I only need to observe the atrocities carried out in the name of Islam and its silent muslim supporters around the globe. BTW, what can the Quran possibly teach me apart from how to return to the kind of barbarism and conquest carried out by Mohamed and his followers!

    • BoGo

Turkish PM Tayyip Erdogan would object to your use of adjectives “moderate” or “extremist” to descibe islam. He has been quoted saying there’s no such thing – only islam.

Those muslims we view as extremists, are actually orthodox in the eyes of the umma. Those muslims claiming to be moderate and pointing their fingers at the “extremists” saying “they don’t represent us” are either apostates in the eyes of the umma or are engaging in taqiyya (sanctioned lying) for the advancement of islam.

Using your example of St. Aquinas as a mile marker in the evolution of the church, we probably have another 400 – 500 years of evolution to occur within islam before it’s compatible with western civilization.

      • Levin

What do you call when you tell your kids their is a santa, or the tooth fairy, or train soldiers to lie when captured. It’s in your culture to lie from birth, yet you want to point a finger on something Muslims don’t do.

So much hate, leave the Muslims alone, ket them worship the way they want to worship, since they don’t tell you what to worship. Can you kill 1.8 BILLION Muslims!

    • Indio Viejo

Prof., you give Islam cover by comparing to what the Arab desert nomads had before Christianity. Don’t forget the Roman Empire in the Middle East and North Africa, or the Hellenistic influence of Alexander the Great in Egypt. The Byzantine Empire had a more moderate and influential influence more certainly the any Muslim ever had. Mohamed was just an evil war-lord who attracted followers for the liberality with which he guided the looting, raping, and murdering upon the unfortunates in his path. Islam is a Satanic Cult built from a totalitarian politico-military ideology. The sooner this information is disseminated to all corners of the world, the sooner they will crawl under the pile of compost they came from.

      • Professor Robert J. King, M.Div., Th.M., Ed.S.

The social history of the Byzantine Empire I am only somewhat acquainted with (I did have 6 Church History Ph.D. seminars at the University of Notre Dame, all focusing on the 1st – 5th centuries, e.g. a seminar on St. Augustine, a seminar on St. John Chrysostom, a seminar on Early Christian Liturgies, etc), but from what I know part of what happened was a result of Imperial government necessitating the “cutting of deals” with local warlords (Peter Brown’s excellent short book Power and Persuasion in Late Antiquity documents this . . .). Thus, whenever a local leader saw an advantage in “switching sides” then an entire region could fall like dominoes. Sadly, this is what happened in North Africa as Islam swept through and took it over in a single century. To be sure Islam in its current embodiment is enough of a concern to global safety that all other religions and nation states should be vigilant. The threats of violence and conquest are quite prevalent. However, Islam needs to police itself or else it will soon find an entire globe shutting its doors and with no liberal do-gooder crying, “wah, wah, why don’t the Palestinians have a state” when Israel is left as the target of nearly all Islamic antipathies . . . I have taught many Islamic students–wonderful people. The only radical Muslim I taught was actually an anglo convert, born, bred in the U.S. as a Methodist, but now ideologically a jihadist.

  • Greg

Until ALL out leaders, along with the general population realize that islam is NOT a religion, but a political ideology, we will never be able to properly deal with it! It is a danger to the survival of the civilized world!
Of course it’s the “fastest growing” religion in the world, because if you don’t convert you may likely be killed! Wake up America, the longer we take to deal with islam properly, the harder and more bloody it will be to do so!

  • FLgeezer

    >It is a danger to the survival of the civilized world!

Too funny Greg. May I respectfully suggest that you are a propaganda victim? Now go and hide under your bed until I signal that the coast is clear, ok? 😎

‘ It is Kristol and company as well as the politicians they have in their pockets who have the ability to appear on television to tell the American people why they should reject Chuck Hagel. They are the ones with the money, the organization, and the media savvy to lead the fight against someone whose fealty to Israel is not sufficiently established, not Pastor John Hagee and his mewling evangelical flock in Texas. For Kristol and his associates it is indeed all about Israel and it always has been. Every nominee to a senior defense, intelligence, or security council position must be vetted and judged by whether or not they are completely committed to support the Israeli government, no matter what it does and no matter what the impact would be on American interests. That is what Bill Kristol and his friends are all about.’

    • BoGo

      FLgeezer translated:
“I haven’t been forced to recite the shahadah and bow to Mecca under penalty of death, so ‘Islam is a religion of peace’ must be true. On the other hand, it’s really those joooz causing all the world’s problems.”

May I respectfully suggest you learn about conditions in Dearborn, MI, Londonistan, and the areas of Paris now occupied by muslims?

    • Greg

A little too strong huh? No need for me to hide. I am not afraid of islam, but am aware of the threat it poses. Neither the Dems, GOP, or their minions have any credibility with me. Nor does the MSM, and Fox News’ credibility has diminished substantially from where it was five years ago IMO.

    • Rich

Are you an American citizen or an Israeli citizen?

To which do you owe your loyalty? Which flag? Which country?

You act like you are more concerned with Israeli security than America’s. Which is it?

Are you one of those wacky Christians who believe Armageddon or whatever has to begin in Israel so you can go to heaven?

  • Isabella1709

Your childish denigration of those that warn about the real Islam shows just what you are. Something you Islamist should learn is that most of us here are not stupid and it does not take much to show Islam for what it is. If anything, the past 11 years have shown us the face of what a murderous, barbaric ideology it is. Steeped in the 6th Century Islamic culture it cannot move from it’s founding because of it’s own tortured beliefs. It can not deal with modernity, it must keep it’s repressive thumb on it’s cultists, and the unsuspecting, and it’s imperative is virtually hatred of everything and everyone that is not Muslim. While Islam may appeal to a 3rd world that know little but survival, it’s not going far here. We know what you are.

  • Indioviejo

Good post Javier, you know what you are writing about.

  • GrumpyHistory

Are we really having this conversation? Christians have historically imposed that religion on the subjects of the nations they possessed or ruled and persecuted thousands in ways our very own bible supports and prescribed. To take the literal text from which we are meant to gain moral insight and to interpret the meaning of a good life would embarrass us all (Leviticus 24:16 Whoever utters the name of the Lord must be put to death. The whole community must stone him, whether alien or native. If he utters the name, he must be put to death.)

Also, this article needs an editor.

    • FLgeezer2

GrumpyHistory – There is an old saying that it is better to remain silent and be thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt. A parallel might go something like this: When you know little to nothing about the Bible and its teachings, you probably shouldn’t quote it and/or comment on its teachings. Your quotation of Lev 24:16 is incorrect according to the translation I commonly use – the NKJV. That translation says “blasphemes” not “utters.” There is a vast difference in the meaning of those two words. You might want to start by using a good dictionary to look up their meanings. Furthermore, just because men have historically misused and abused God’s word, even in the Christian age, does not make it (God’s word) any less perfect. Men’s agendas, greed, lust for power, etc have always been at variance with God’s word, so don’t blame the evil men do in God’s name on God. That which is perfect cannot be blamed for the imperfection of men. And by the way, since Christ brought about a NEW covenant, the old has been done away with (meaning it doesn’t apply to us today). You might want to read the book of Hebrews in the NEW Testament (covenant) for greater insight into this.

I’m an atheist and only see religion from a social or political perspective. But there are Religions, and there are Religions. As I was born on the western World, I don’t agree with any forms of Christianity. But if given to chose, I’d rather live in the Vatican City or Westminster Abbey, or in the Bible Belt, than in any Islamic country, even Turkey.
Many centuries ago, islamists were able to keep, develop and transmit the scientific heritage of ancient Greece and Rome. No civilized thinking afterwards. And never have them been able to develop a platform of real human rights.
If I were in a position of power at the UN, I’d invite all Western countries to a forum on Religion (and Atheist) Freedom and would propose that any religion that prohibits, or discriminates against any religion present in the Western Hemisphere, be prohibited in our countries.

  • Florida Jim

Islam is a religion based on good works and following Muhammad’s writings. The Prophet , as he is called, would be jailed for sodomy with young boys today.Muslims worldwide have one goal it is to take over the world and install sharia. They will lie about their intent , they will hide guns and armaments in their mosques saying we don’t do things like that. They enter every country and start the process using the laws of that nation to install sharia. It takes time but in every country they go the process is the same. When Muslims control the government then they fight among themselves about Shiite vs Sunni or one of the other sects they can’t get along with anyone even themselves. How they treat women is shameful and how they treat little boys is a sin. Jesus Christ preached love your brother Islam preaches love your small sect and destroy all else. Some nice religion!

Very few choice words but are words of wisdom.
The high power discussion between Islam and Christainity will go on so it seems for ever why people cannot believe in just ONE GOD
