Sen. Ted Cruz Calls Out Obama’s Gun Control Hypocrisy

Senator Ted Cruz appeared on NBC’s  “Meet the Press” along side Senator Charles Schumer (D-NY) to discuss the ongoing gun rights debate, and the President Obama’s gun ban wish-list.

The President has laid out 23 Executive Orders to “curb gun violence” and is hoping that the Congress will deliver to him what he has wanted all along, a ban on ‘assault weapons’ and high-capacity magazines.

Cruz called out the President and his  shameless exploitation of the Newtown shooting, as a move to only appease and “appeal to his political partisans.” Cruz added that considering Connecticut has the some of the toughest gun laws in the country, this tragedy could not have been prevented.

Here is a what Senator Cruz said on Gun Rights on Meet the Press. Watch the video below-

“I do think there is a fundamental point here, and there is a point of hypocrisy when it comes to gun control. That many of the proponents of gun control are very wealthy, live in communities where they can outsource police protection, but you have a lot of people that are worried about preserving the safety of their own home.

“If you’re talking to a single woman living in Anacostia who has the misfortune to live next to a crack-house to tell he she doesn’t have a constitutional right to keep and bear arms I think is fundamentally wrong.”

“What I don’t think is constructive is what the President is doing right now. Which is within minutes of that horrible tragedy in Newtown, the President began trying to exploit that tragedy to push a gun control agenda that is designed to appeal to partisans – designed to appeal to his political partisans.

“Number one, it would have done zero to prevent the crime in Newtown. Number two, many of the provisions are contrary to the constitutional protection of the Second Amendment. Number three, they don’t work.

“You know, Chuck said a minute ago the assault weapons ban was tremendously successful. The assault weapons ban was one of the least successful bills that has ever been put in place. And in fact, when the ban expired there were roughly 700 murders using all rifles. Today there are roughly 300. There are less than half. This is not designed to actually solve the problem of violent crime, this is designed to assuage liberal partisans who want to push gun control.”-Sen. Ted Cruz

The more I hear Senator Cruz, the more I like what he has to say. Can you imagine the Hispanic vote thet woud go to a Republican ticket of Rubio/Cruz or Cruz Rubio?

We would see a Democrat party auger out of control.

I hope we have enough people in the Senate and House, who can stop this man. Does anyone believe that our President actually doesn’t know that there are millions of guns out there, illegally owned by criminals who stole them (or some of the Fast and Furious guns that have found their way back here). Is he so stupid as to believe that he can find out where these weapons are kept (since none of them are registered)? He has no way of knowing where illegal guns are!!!

What are the decent, honest, law abiding citizens supposed to do when armed criminals are threatening us, or our families? What are the decent, honest, law abiding Americans supposed to do if and when the gov’t decides to threaten our freedom (as many already believe is in the works)?

Is he so callous as to believe that it’s ok to protect his own children by the use of guns, but none of us should be allowed to protect ours? Listen, the lives of my children and grandchildren are just as important and worth while, as his.

The purpose of the 2nd amendment is for the American people to be able to defend themselves and their families, against a tyrannical gov’t, and criminals. The fact that the gov’t has been trying to get gun control passed for years is certainly something to raise one’s eyebrows as to whether or not we may be facing tyranny!

You idiot, no one wants to “take away” your guns.
The whole thrust is to keep deadly firearms out of the hands of psychopaths and criminals, not legitimate hunters, collectors or those who want a weapon at home for protection.
Assault weapons do not belong in the hands of ordinary citizens. Their ONLY legitimate purpose is to slaughter other human beings.
No one needs 30-50-100 round magazines either. If your neighborhood is that bad that you feel you need that many rounds to “protect” yourself, it’s time to move.

Believe it or not, the 2nd Amendment does allow firearms to be regulated. Just as the 1st Amendment’s guarantee of “free speech” in not necessarily absolute, neither is the 2nd Amendment.
Believe it or not, just as the government can regulate “free speech”, the government can regulate the manufacture, sales and distribution of firearms.

Wiseguy, with all the teabagger nuts in the House of Representatives, do you for one minute believe that if President Obama has committed an impeachable offense that one of these clowns wouldn’t have a Bill of Impeachment already offered up for consideration?

Let’s deal with reality, ok, not right wing fantasies.
