Poll: Obama’s Election Winning “Gifts”

by Javier Manjarres

Former Republican Presidential nominee Mitt Romney is again under fire for his recent statement that Obama won the general election because of “gifts” he gave to certain voting blocs.

“The president’s campaign, if you will, focused on giving targeted groups a big gift,” Romney said, citing immigration proposals aimed at Hispanics and free contraception coverage that appealed to young women. “He made a big effort on small things.”-Fox News

Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal, who campaign for Romney, has taken issue with the governor’statements, stating, “I absolutely reject that notion,” and saying that he thought the comments were “absolutely wrong.”

But is Romney wrong for making these statements? Obama’s campaign admitted to targeting voters in the matter that they did, and the “gifts” that Romney emphasized were issues that had polled high with those respective demographics.

Romney is right to point this out. Obama did pander to these key voting demographics and it worked. Romney tried to make it about the broader more important economic outlook of the country, but failed to effectively reach out to the disenfranchised demographics Obama targeted.

i really believe obama was right when he said “the america people are stupid”.

    • Miriam

It is not only stupidity. We have to ad to that lack of knowledge, total ignorant group that never took the time to listen to other sources of news. Univision is a radical idologue Network who wahed their brain on a daily basis. Of course they are guilty for not looking into other sources to get to the bottom of the truth. In addition, there is a good portion of Latinos that look at the USA like a big oppressor & sided with Democrats for both oportunistic & economical reason. They know how to get the free-stuff by going around the law.

    Who is Mitt Romney?

“Stupidity is far more dangerous than evil, for evil takes a break from time to time, stupidity does not” Anatole France…Promising something that you cannot deliver on is for the stupid…

  • Charles plumery

No, not neccasarily stupid but not educated in the way this country was founded and why. It is a shame that the Marxist philosophy that we spent so much to defeat has taken our country in hand and the most powerful man in the world is a communist president of the United States. If he survives this four years he will go on to be the dictator that destroyed America and all will be slaves except his chosen.

And just what do you wish to call all Mitt Romney’s overtures and pandering during the campaign? It just so happens, President Obama stood for the right things when it comes to Student loans, immigration, etc. When’s the last time YOU were able to go to your parents and ask them for a loan. It just reinforces that Mr. Romney remains so out of touch with most of the country. Louisiana Governor Bobby Jindal, who campaign for Romney, has taken issue with the governor’s statements and he is 100% correct. I guess the mean-spirited and heartless blood letting continues…it stinks and wreaks of sour grapes. It appears there are still many ultra conservative Republicans that just don’t get it. They cant’ even understand that fiscally President Obama’s position makes sense…something that’s lacking in those who can’t look beyond the end of their up-turned nose! Really pathetic; let’s let the long overdue Republican party over hall begin! I’m embarrassed to be a registered Republican. If we can’t reform, we will be relegated to history as an afterthought–or CLIFF NOte!

    • Lowie

Please do not get discouraged but keep up the good fight. If I may make a suggestion to the Democratic led counties to our south. Vote out all the local Democrat candidates or at least do not re-elect a Democrats that run your elections departments and never vote for anyone that wants to raise your taxes.

    • Carlos

“Over hall”? Is that anywhere near Hall Over beach? LOL. Your poor grammar and spelling ID you as a definite Obama voter. No Republican ever threatened to take away student loans, let alone acted on it. This election was all about “gimme my free s**t!”.

    • BoGo

” I’m embarrassed to be a registered Republican.”

And I’m embarassed that you go around representing yourself as a Republican. Please get the hell out already. Your idea of reform of the party is to be Democrat light.

I submit the following as evidence of either your status as a troll or a sufferer of cranial-rectal inversion:

” They cant’ even understand that fiscally President Obama’s position makes sense”

      it’s overhaul.

Call it gifts or pandering or bribes or whatever you want, but Obama did single out special groups for certain favors, promises he made to special interest groups. He still talks only about favoring the middle class and punishing anyone who aspires to do better. What about all of us? So-called middle class will find itself being the new rich.
A president should care for all people, not select groups just to have them vote for him. It was all about getting re-elected, not concern for people or for the law, for that matter. This division into groups is destroying our country. We are all Americans and should be proud of that, and not belonging to any particular ethnic group. United we stand.

Democrats win elections by being Santa Claus! It’s a page out of their playbook to promise everything to get elected, but this time, my stupid friends, our country is broke. Washington will just kick the can down the road AGAIN. When are we going to get it? When the older generation figures it all out, the younger generation votes for more “stuff” from Santa Claus. Educate your children please.

If Govoner Jindal does not agree with Gov. Romney’s statement that Obama won the general election because of “gifts” he gave to certain voting blocs, then Jindal may be part of the problem.

Although I am military and currently serving overseas, I am a resident of Florida and I am appalled wiith the fellow Floridians and the state government. First we are dead last to post the election results, now we are raising money for the Allen West truth campaighn because the democrats are attacking him. Simple he lost. Now we are trying to defend Romney, did we forget his 47% rule. Who was he catering to. Simply put he lost. We leave in a democracy, everyone over the age of 18 had the right to vote. So apparently the democrats had more votes and electoral coolege than the republicans. Simply put we lost. So deal with it and lets show the world that this is how a democracy works. We need to focus on helping our neighbors and mending this country to make it better for future generations not just complain, talk about succession. What is next will we become Greece and start rioting.

    • BoGo

      Thank you for your service.

And Yes, we’re on our way to Greece. The riots will start when, like Greece, Uncle Sham can no longer pay for the “free” stuff and must begin cutting.

    • marilyn milam

vote fraud. No one knows who really won the damned thing. Fraud all over the place, including Florida and the MILITARY vote again.

  • Nancy Lozsi

I agree with Romney. Obama bought votes. Plain and simple. Desperate acts by a desperate man. He is a scripted man with no intellegent thoughts of his own. A puppet. Better learn to speak Chinese.

  • Fanosea55

All the free gifts aren’t going to work out anyway. They were merely a tool to get people hocked and it worked. Elections have consequences and the best has yet to come. Familiar with the Weimar Republic? Well, if you are not, get ready because we are all going to experience it first hand.

Gov. Mitt Romney can say anything he wants, specially when it is the truth. Some people cannot handle the truth, they like to live in deception and lies. I wish Gov Romney would continue saying all that he has to say. Continue being a thorn on the side of this inept, incompetent, and destructive president.

    From P. J. O’Rourke’s 1991 book “Parliment of Whores”::

“I have only one firm belief about the American political system, and that is this: God is a Republican and Santa Claus is a Democrat.

“God is an elderly or, at any rate, middle aged male, a stern fellow, patriarchal rather than paternal and a great believer in rules and regulations. He holds men accountable for their actions. He has little apparent concern for the material well being of the disadvantaged. He is politically connected, socially powerful and holds the mortgage on literally everything in the world. God is difficult. God is unsentimental. It is very hard to get into God’s heavenly country club.

“Santa Claus is another matter. He’s cute. He’s nonthreatening. He’s always cheerful. And he loves animals. He may know who’s been naughty and who’s been nice, but he never does anything about it. He gives everyone everything they want without the thought of quid pro quo. He works hard for charities, and he’s famously generous to the poor.

“Santa Claus is preferable to God in every way but one: There is no such thing as Santa Claus.”

That says it all. President Obama and the Democrats are Santa Claus, while Mitt Romney tried to sell voters on the tough love of God’s demand for responsibility. That was no contest. Alas, for unsuspecting voters, O’Rourke’s final admonition is correct: there is NO such thing as Santa Claus. Thus, they elected Obama once and didn’t quite get what he promised, but instead got more poverty, more dependency, more international problems, less business stability, etc. Now the news arrives that the annual poverty rate for Hispanics — who overwhelmingly voted for this guy — is not only rising but approaching record high levels. And those records — 3 years of over 30% poverty! — are held by…Democratic President Bill Clinton — another fake “Santa Claus” who was re-elected with the help of a majority of Hispanics after promising them a better deal.

And those who fail to learn from history continue to condemn all of us to repeat it.
